Judge Rejects Intel’s Bid for New Trial

Judge Alan D. Albright of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas rejected Intel’s request for a new trial.

After a jury came down with a $2.18 billion verdict against Intel for infringing VLSI Technology LLC’s computer chip patents, Intel requested a new trial arguing that the verdict was tainted by erroneous jury instructions evidentiary rulings, and appeared to be based on earlier Intel settlements that were not comparable. On August 10, 2021, Judge Albright denied Intel’s motion in a sealed order.
